Lap time versus split time

A stopwatch measures elapsed time, but the useful detail is often in the laps. This tool records two numbers each time you press Lap: the lap time, which is how long that individual segment took, and the total time, which is the running clock since you started. A runner doing repeats cares about the lap time; someone timing stages of a longer process cares about the total. Having both side by side means you never have to subtract in your head.

Accuracy comes from measuring against the browser's high-resolution clock rather than counting ticks, so pausing and resuming does not drift. The display updates many times a second for a smooth readout, while the underlying time is tracked precisely, which is why the hundredths never stutter even if the tab is busy.

Because everything is kept locally, you can export your laps to a CSV file and open them in a spreadsheet to chart pace or spot the slowest segment. Nothing is uploaded, so timing a workout, a presentation rehearsal or a cooking step stays entirely on your device.
